The colon is the last part of your digestive system which is 5-6 feet long. It comes after your small intestine which is approximately 22 feet. The colon is what accumulates all of the waste and toxins our body excretes after nutrient absorption.
Your appendix starts at the very beginning of your colon on your right side of your abdomen.
Then comes the cecum which is close to where the small and large intestine connect.
Through natural peristalsis which moves the waste through, the excess food/waste goes up the ascending colon (right side), straight across to your transverse colon along under your chest, then down the left side which is your descending colon into the rectum to eliminate out of the body.
Fascinating right?
The major and most important function of the large intestine (colon) is the formation and elimination of feces.
